Community Learning Build On Your Skills
After completing and enjoying a Level 1 course in child psychology, local residents have started the Level 2 course, which runs at the Share Centre on Wednesdays from 1-3pm. It could lead to a new career for participants, as well as helping with their own parenting skills.
Chevaunne Callaghan from Jones Street says “I have come to the course to further my knowledge in child psychology. It has helped me understand my own child a bit better and made me feel confident. I enjoy the discussions with the other women on the course.”
Michelle Gardener of Bailey Street says “I have joined the level 2 child psychology course to help me improve my opportunities and open more doors for me.The course has helped me become more understanding in my home and work environment.”
Hannah Worthing, of St Woolos Road, feels the course could lead to a new career for her “Now that I am thinking of returning to work, I have decided to re-train and I am keen to find out more about children’s early years from a more academic point of view.”
The course runs for a few more weeks and then the girls will have the chance to look at a different module, adding to the skills they have already gained.
It is hoped that another child psychology course will run in January, with a free crèche so that childcare needn’t be a problem.
