Bedlinog and Trelewis Partnership Board
The aim of the Partnership Board shall be to tackle social exclusion, by the participation of residents and local community organisations in Bedlinog and Trelewis, the local authority and statutory and voluntary organisations, in formulating and implementing an action plan to improve the economy, social welfare, environment, health and educational achievement of the communities of Bedlinog and Trelewis.

The people involved in this Programme in the form of Partnership Board Members, volunteers and staff are all experienced individually and collectively and whilst they continue striving to create new and innovative programmes, they are mindful of the lessons that experience has taught.
Another strong year of achievement has passed with 13 projects completed, over 25 community activities taken place, and a further 16 training courses delivered for different ages from which 156 local people gained formal qualifications.   Bedlinog Resource Centre is proving to be a successful one stop shop with more services and provisions available locally.
We’ve seen an increase in levels of participation from
community residents through which a sense of community pride and ownership is being achieved. Over 1500 residents have participate in 11 events organised or supported by us over the year, with 13 new volunteers now involved with event committees, and many local organisations now organising their own events.  As a result of community activities and events, local group memberships have increased, doctor referrals from health fares have resulted in local residents looking after themselves better, taking up more exercise and healthier eating options.
30 Community Groups were contacted throughout the year and asked to complete a Community Audit.  77% of community groups responded.  Communities First continues to work closely with community groups, assisting them with seeking funding, organising events, running meetings and managing projects. As a result, finances of local groups have been raised and local businesses have been supported and advertised through the creation on the Taff Bargoed Valley Website raising the profile of Communities First throughout the process.
Communities First has continued to support MTCBC and provides Taff Bargoed Regeneration Partnership with a secretariat role in promoting the Taff Bargoed Regeneration Strategy and Action Plan, working with local groups to avoid duplication of efforts and promoting shared responsibility and ownership. All community groups within Bedlinog and Trelewis have been informed of this Strategy.
The programme has greatly developed over the passed year with additional community surveys being conducted to ensure the needs of the communities are still valid from previous consultations and any new issues that may have arose can be addressed.  The way forward for the long term planning and regeneration of our areas lies in the hand of the Taff Bargoed Regeneration Strategy.
